Welcome to the Public Housing Program
Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) announces the publication of its Public Housing Program Action Plan. The Action Plan details the process and procedures for the administration of funds available to the five Mississippi Gulf Coast Housing Authorities in Jackson, Hancock and Harrison Counties that suffered damage as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
The public is invited to make comments and suggestions electronically via the website during a roughly one-week comment period ending June 18, 2006.
During the comment period, MDA will compile and evaluate the submissions, make any necessary adjustments to the Action Plan and submit it to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for final approval.
"The Public Housing Program was designed to support Mississippi Gulf Coast Public Housing Authorities, so they can get back to the work of providing decent, safe and sanitary housing to low-income families," stated Terri Hudson, MDA chief financial officer. "Because many citizens impacted by Hurricane Katrina were not eligible for the first Homeowner Assistance Grant Program, we are continuing to access needs and work with HUD to develop new programs like this one. We look forward to finalizing our plan with HUD and getting the application process started."
